From our Area Chairman...

Welcome to the newest edition of the newsletter for music and worship leaders for the RSCM Portsmouth Area. (download here)

You may have read in your copy of CMQ that all local committees across the UK are being restructured in the course of 2012. Anyone who has served as an office holder for more than 8 years must relinquish the appointment. This means quite a few of your Portsmouth committee must do this. Therefore we are very keen to hear from any volunteers across the area who would like to volunteer to serve on the Area Committee. Do please get in touch with me (contact us).

In October we look forward to welcoming Noel Treddinick back to the Portsmouth Area when he leads our Annual Choirs’ Festival at the Cathedral on Saturday 6th October. We shall be using a bespoke order of service once again and this time including a small brass and percussion group.

Do please look out for the booking forms that will be circulated in the summer and your chance to collect music booklets.

I look forward to seeing you at one or more of our events!

David Price

RSCM Portsmouth Area is part of the world-wide 'Royal School of Church Music'. We seek to support music making in parishes and schools in East Hampshire, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.

We do this by organising training days, choral festivals, conferences and an award scheme for choir singers. Please see our events page for details of our forthcoming programme on the Mainland and IOW.

The Portsmouth Area is supported by three committees

  • Area chaired by David Price (Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral)
  • Mainland chaired by Revd John Draper (St Mary's Rowner)
  • Isle of Wight chaired by June Cox (St John's Newport).
